Trenches
Trenches is a personal creative initiative dedicated to empowering Black creatives at the intersection of sports, culture, and design.
Created as both a creative outlet and a platform for advocacy, the brand uses storytelling, apparel, community events, and creative programming to amplify underrepresented voices and foster meaningful connections. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I organized virtual networking events that brought together Black creatives from across the sports industry, providing a space to share experiences, build relationships, and create opportunities at a time when in-person communities were unavailable. As restrictions eased, I expanded those efforts by hosting an outdoor community event in Brooklyn for Black queer creatives, creating an inclusive space for networking, collaboration, and celebration. Trenches also launched advocacy-driven initiatives such as the Protect Black Women apparel campaign, using design to raise awareness and encourage conversations around the importance of protecting and supporting Black women. Through Trenches, I explored how design can extend beyond aesthetics to build community, advocate for representation, and create lasting cultural impact. The project demonstrates my belief that thoughtful design is not only a tool for solving problems, but also a catalyst for connection, inclusion, and social change.
